Happy Birthday Ryan Andrew!

Ryan turned one on Monday. We had an excellent day. We started out opening presents and then ate breakfast (which included strawberries since he is now 1 and can eat berries). We spent the day playing then had our family over for dinner and a little celebration. Ryan wasn't really into his cake. This was the first dessert/sugar he has had and he didn't know what to do with it. Plus having 15 people staring at him made it a little intimidating I am sure (he gets another cake on Saturday for his party, so I am curious to see if he is into that one).

I still can't believe that my son is already one. The past year really flew by. I have loved every minute of being Ryan's mom and wouldn't trade it for anything. He is such a great kid and I feel so lucky to be his mom. I hope every year is just as perfect as this year has been.

He was wincing at how sweet it was

He wouldn't smile for the camera (big surprise)

He had more fun on the floor

Getting some help from his cousins

Loved the box

When Ryan opened the basketball hoop Rob said "Yes! This is exactly what I wanted!" Rob has had more fun with it than Ryan has.

Jada is such a great helper and loves to take care of her little cousin.

Such a doll.

Grandma and Grandpa gave Ryan this awesome play gym. He loves it!!

Watermelon

Ryan loves watermelon, and he especially loves feeding it to himself. It gets so messy and the juice stains, so he can't wear a shirt when eating it. For Father's Day dinner, we gave him watermelon and he couldn't have been happier. You can see his top teeth really well in these pictures.

Happy Father's Day!

Matching golf shirts.

Since Ryan has the best dad in the world, we had to make his first Father's Day very special. Some friend's and I planned a surprise Father's Day outing for our husbands. We booked a couple of tee times and planned a bbq and pool party to follow. Ryan and I gave Rob some Dad golf gear as an early Father's Day gift. It was a lot of fun and I think all of the Dad's enjoyed their day. Today we are hanging out with Rob's family and grilling ribs, and of course playing with Ryan.

Happy Father's Day Rob! Thank you for all that you do for us! We love you very much!

Ryan made a special Father's Day gift for Rob. He painted his first picture all by himself. I bought some non-toxic paint and a canvas and he went nuts. He loved the way the paint felt in his fingers. He was an absolute mess when it was all said and done. We were all covered in paint , but it was so much fun!

Uncle Jonathan is the Best!

Ryan's Uncle Jonathan gave Ryan a water table for his birthday and, as you can see from the pictures below, he loves it. Grandma and Grandpa Reckers and Auntie Ella are in town for Ryan's birthday on Monday (Uncle Jonathan has to work so he couldn't make it in town.) He still managed to give Ryan a great gift that I foresee getting a lot of use this summer!

Birthday time at Gymboree!

Ryan's Gymboree class celebrated his birthday on Thursday. He got a special name tag and they sang for him. Hard to believe that he will turn 1 in 2 short days!

Books, Books, and Books

Ryan's book obsession is still going strong. He carries books to us and puts them in our hands so we can read to him. It is quite cute. Sometimes he doesn't sit still through the whole book and other times we have to read the same book 5 or 6 times in a row.
