First Day of School/Open House

Ryan is returning to the same school this year for his pre-school 3 class.  We are incredibly happy with our choice of school and look forward to a great year!  Lillian is starting as well.  She will be in their Children's Day out program.  She is starting in the same class that Ryan started in.  Too bad his amazing teacher retired last year.  I have heard great things about her teacher though, so we are so excited!
The first day of school is actually an open house type forum.  They get to practice their morning routines, play with their friends, while the parents receive a lot of information and get familiar with one another.  It was a little hectic, since I had 2 classes to be in at the same time, so we were running back and forth between the two.
Ryan's teacher in Mrs. Schmidt and she is a perfect fit for him.  Lillian's teacher is Ms. Nancy and she seems incredibly nice!  Lillian will be napping every day she is there, while Ryan's day is full of learning and fun.  Ryan will go Tue, Wed, and Thurs from 9-2 (except Wed which is 9-12).  Lillian will go 9-2 on Tue and Thurs only.  I am so happy that Lillian will be around kids her own age.  She mostly plays with Ryan and his friends, so it will be a nice change for her.  This is a big year for Ryan at school.  He will be expected to everything for himself.  I am looking forward to watching him become more independent.  We are also carpooling this year for the first time.  Ryan is excited about riding to school with his friend, Megan.

This is a link to his first day last year for a comparison.

Here are some pictures from their first day!!

Still nervous that I was going to leave him.  A little worried about how he will be during drop off.  This year it is a carpool line, so I hope that helps!

Teeti bought him this backpack a couple of years ago.  I had it monogrammed so he can finally use it.  How cute is this?

He was telling Lilly all about school and then leaned in to kiss her.  Ugh.  Melts my heart.

Signing in for his first day of school with his teacher's help.

He found his hook!

Mrs. Schmidt

He is obsessed with all things that say his name.

"Wait mommy.  I want to do a quick puzzle before we go."

Lillian's class.  She walked in and sat right down.

Notice Ryan in the background playing in her room.  haha!  I didn't take as many photos of her.  It was VERY hectic in her room.

The Beach

I am just now uploading some older pictures....

This summer we went to a family friend's beach house for the weekend.  The kids did great!  Lillian took a little time falling asleep in a new environment, but other than that, no complaints!  The weather was a bit warm, but being right on the bay allowed for a great breeze.  We had a wonderful time and the kids had a blast!  The bay is really shallow all of the way out and there are no waves, so we felt very comfortable with the kids playing around in the water.  We also went for a boat ride which both kids loved doing as well.  It really was a fun trip an we can't wait to go back!!

MOM

During bath time....
Ryan "Mommy come here and tell me what I spelled!"
I walked in to see a super sweet and proud grin and he pointed to this.

Oh so sweet.

He is spelling more and more words and can read and recognize even more.  He has also mastered opposites, and he getting really good at rhyming.

Some funny things he has said lately:

Me: "Ryan, let me do that for you, it is a little hard"
Ryan: "I am 3 now so I can do hard things"

"Ralphie is making a bad choice and needs to go into the naughty chair"

"Mommy, I need you" (Said after he woke up from a nap.)

Ryan: "Mommy, where is your work?"
Me: "My work is at home.  I take care of you and Lillian"
Ryan: "Oh!  That is a good job!"

Ryan: "I work in an office. There are fish there"
Rob: "Where is your office"
Ryan" Downstairs"
Rob: "Who works with you?"
Ryan: "Elmo"
Rob: "Who else works there?"
Ryan: "No one, just me and Elmo.  He is my boss"

We went to the beach this past weekend and he fell and got salt water in his face.
Ryan: "Yuck!  Grammy what is in this water?"
Grammy: "Salt.  It is salt water"
Ryan: "I DO NOT like salt in my water!

While playing on the IPad
"Grammy, I need to go to the app store!"

There are so many funny things he says.  I really should start writing them down so I don't forget.
