It's been a while....

Yes, I know it has been a while since I updated our blog. Nothing all that exciting has been going on. Ryan is keeping us super busy and is demanding more and more of our attention. He is still trying to talk a lot, but his words are still limited. He seems to understand almost everything we say though. He did tell Rob "thank you" the other day and it sounded like he told Grandma Bobbi "love you". But who knows. He babbles constantly and now loves to dance. He has 3 dance moves, all of which are adorable. I hope to capture them on video soon. I took Ryan to the zoo for the first time and he loved it. Everything was a "kitty". He loved the petting zoo and the play area in the kids part. I try to take him to do something every day, even if it is just to Gymboree open gym time (M-Th 4:00-6:00). It is a great place for him to exert some of his energy. I also play with him outside every day, usually more than 1 time. He really likes to play in the front yard and chases our neighbors kitty all around. We have taught him not to go in the street, even though we live of a very quiet street, and he actually understands. Every now and again he will test us and move close to the edge of the driveway, but once we correct him he doesn't try again. He does get mad when the kitty crosses the street and he has to stay on our side and watch her. I think she does it on purpose. He seems to have gotten really tall recently. We take Ryan to the doctor on Monday so I will have all of his 15 month stats then!

Funny part is, he doesn't ever watch TV. But he likes to point the remote at the TV and push buttons. Just like Daddy.

Realized I had the camera

We found this adorable boxer puppy on our walk last weekend and took her home until we found her family. Ryan thought Christmas came early! He loved her and was calling her a "kitty", of course. The little puppy chased Ryan around the house while grumpy old Ralphie growled. We only had her about an hour, but it was the highlight of Ryan's day!

First Haircut

Rob and I decided that it was time to get Ryan's hair cut. I was putting it off for a long time in hopes that his straight hair would turn curly on us. I guess hair doesn't work that way. He was growing a mullet and it was getting pretty long. Ryan did great! He was a little cautious of the hair dresser, comb, scissors, clippers, and hair dryer. But he LOVED the firetruck that he sat in, the Elmo DVD that played for him, and the bell at the end of the truck. It only took a few minutes for the mullet to get cut and he didn't resist much at all. His hair looks adorable and he looks so much older to me now.

We went to a birthday party last weekend and they had a trampoline. Ryan loved bouncing on it with Grandma Bobbi!

A cape...or a hooded towel

It has been a little slow around the Reckers' house lately. We are just enjoying Ryan more and more everyday. His new obsession is his belly and everyone else's belly button. It is no fun when he tries to pull my shirt up in public to look at my belly button. He has become quite opinionated when it comes to his food. He definitely has food that he refuses to eat now. Some of his favorite foods are cheese, waffles, spaghetti (he goes nuts for it and cries when it is all gone), peas, strawberries, grapes, breakfast sausage, taco meat, eggs, tomato soup, and anything sweet. He still loves his books, and loves our neighbors cat. He runs around the front of their house saying "kitty, kitty, kitty.." If Lucy the cat happens to be out, he follows her everywhere! Elmo is still one of his favorite things. Ryan has started transitioning to 1 nap a day. Occasionally we will still get 2 naps out of him. I am not forcing it either way and letting him decide what he needs. He still loves to be outside and since it is beginning to cool down a little bit, we have been spending much more time outside. We went to our neighborhood's Labor Day celebration yesterday and there was a band playing at the Amphitheater. Ryan ran up and down the hill countless times and would stop occasionally to dance to the music. We were exhausted just from chasing him around. Ralphie and him have become quite good buddies now that Ryan has figured out that Ralphie loves to be fed. Food has really helped their relationship. When Grandma Bobbi is around, Ryan wants nothing to do with Rob or I. It is Grandma all of the time. She loves every second of it!


Here are some recent pictures of him playing with a couple of hooded towels. I put the duck one on him one day and he left it on his head for at least 30 minutes. It was so funny and so cute. Grandma Bobbi got to see the cuteness, so she found this Elmo towel and brought it over this weekend. Again, he left it on his head for a good 45 minutes this morning while we were playing.

Webcam

Every Sunday we talk on the webcam with Grandma and Grandpa Reckers. Ryan loves to see them every week! He typically has a lot to tell them. Here he was last Sunday.

Boxes are so fun!

Especially big boxes! We found his milk inside of it that night.

Ralphie the highchair cleaner

Ralphie used to just clean up the mess on the floor, now he tries to get the mess in the highchair. Ryan thinks it is hysterical, I find it a bit gross.
